NewLife is a synthetic textile fiber created with recycled plastic bottles. An ecological nylon yarn that uses existing resources such as plastic to obtain an ecological, high quality, and sustainably produced fiber.
NewLife it is produced in Italy by an Italian company and then exported all over the world.
This fiber should not be confused with bioplastics, which mostly come from vegetable raw materials and are therefore biodegradable or compostable, while NewLife it is a recyclable synthetic fiber.
Recycled plastic bottles to create NewLife
Recycled plastic bottles replace petroleum-based polymers used in regular nylon production. The bottles are selected, washed and prepared in Italy, and after a complex process they become the yarn NewLife through an innovative certified mechanical process with low environmental impact.
NewLife it's a second chance for plastic bottles!
NewLife it is an ecological yarn of excellence. Designed by Sinterama and produced by the Italian company Saluzzo spinning with a wide range of yarns and possible applications.
How did he do? Using the plastic bottles recycled in Italy.
The evolution of individual conscience and the growing attention to the quality of life make us aware of how the indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources is harmful and dangerous for environmental conservation and consequently a danger for our survival.
It is increasingly evident how our individual choices make a difference!
Earth overshoot days, climate change, global warming, toxic waste disposal and large-scale effects of environmental pollution are issues that affect us closely, which is why we can and must address them individually.
Filatura di Saluzzo is the Italian textile company that produces ecological yarn NewLife, an innovative idea in the field of fashion: recycling plastic bottles from separate collection.
Not just fashion for NewLife, this ecological fiber is used in various fields:
- Elegant fashion
- Labels and ribbons
- Automotive sector
- Home textile
During spinning NewLife is dyed at the request of fashion brands, this allows a water saving equal to 10 liters per kg of yarn.
|3,88 kg CO2eq

NewLife textile fiber
A wide range of textile yarns with which it is possible to create innovative recycled fabrics that aim at great speed towards what we define circular fashion.
NewLife it is part of the ecological synthetic fibers because:
- The whole manufacturing process of NewLife follows the regulations imposed at European level in terms of environmental protection (see REACH).
- The Filatura di Saluzzo company is attentive to the issue of environmental sustainability and their safety standards go far beyond the rules dictated by the bodies in charge.
- NewLife it requires a mechanical and non-chemical process (unlike other synthetic materials), a process that takes advantage of temperature variations and allows the chemical substances used to be eliminated.
- NewLife has important textile certifications such as OEKO-TEX, GRS Global Recycle Standard, PSV Plastica Seconda Vita.
NewLife allows us to choose our clothes based on the activity to be carried out, or by evaluating the reactions of our body (sweating, itching, etc.).
The 8 variations of yarn NewLife derived from recycled plastic bottles:
Very fine filaments suitable for clothing.
Newlife fancy effect
To obtain particular effects of color and volume.
Newlife Skin Sun Protection
Ultra violet ray protection.
Newlife UV Resistant
High protection from ultra violet rays.
Newlife Quick Drive
Anti sweat and suitable for sports / work use.
Newlife Thermal Management
Guaranteed thermal insulation, even with lower weight.
Important permanent anti-odor / antibacterial function.
Newlife Moisture Management
Thermoregulator, facilitates the expulsion of sweat.
NewLife is it an ecological yarn?
We have seen the saving of energy and natural resources for the production of the yarn NewLife, above all thanks to the recycling of plastic waste and the innovative closed-cycle manufacturing process.
As for ECONYL also for the production of NewLife the toxic substances used are reduced to a minimum, and the "closed cycle" allows the recycling of these substances, which are reused for various production processes.
Very often it is possible to find the fabric in NewLife mixed with other textile fibers, fibers approved by the manufacturer which reserves the right to evaluate blends with other fabrics, which must comply with certain environmental sustainability rules.
It is good to know that too NewLife releases microplastics with every washing of our clothes. Plastics that in large part end up in our seas and which, unlike the natural fibers and artificial fibers, are not biodegradable.
Characteristics of NewLife
The qualities of the fabric may vary based on its blending with other fibers. Example: with Elastan or Lycra you gain in elasticity.
|Does not shrink / discolor
The ecological characteristics of the fabric may vary based on textile certifications or blending with other fabrics.
|Natural - Artificial - Synthetic
|Natural raw material
|Recycled raw material
The certifications that can be assigned to the fabric, but which vary according to different factors: manufacturing company, fashion brand, blending.
|Global Organic Textile Standard
|Organic Content Standard
|Global Recycle Standard
|Second Life Plastic
|Fair Wear Foundation

Clothing in NewLife
NewLife it is a soft and smooth nylon and in contact with the skin it gives a pleasant feeling of well-being. The clothing in NewLife it is not very popular due to high costs, it is mostly used as a lining in jackets and to make swimwear.
It stands out from others synthetic fabrics for some features:
- High resistance to UV rays
- Quick drying
- Thermal insulation
- Anti bacterial
- Facilitates the expulsion of moisture
How to wash NewLife?
The environmental impact of laundry detergents and household cleaners is devastating to our planet, so we highly recommend using ecological detergents.
Washing clothes in NewLife it can be done either by hand or in the washing machine, because this fiber is not sensitive to spinning or hot water (except for tights) and, therefore, no special precautions are necessary, if not the preliminary reading of the label, the which will indicate the need for any separate washing or specific treatments, such as do not tumble dry.
Normally, the heads in NewLife demonstrate excellent color retention; therefore, it is possible to proceed to a mixed washing in the washing machine, with a program for synthetic garments and which therefore does not exceed 30 or 40 degrees.
The centrifuge must be delicate and, in any case, not exceeding 800 rpm; if you wash the tights in the washing machine, it is advisable to first put them inside a netting bag, which will prevent the threads from breaking and damaging the fibers.
To wash NewLife in the washing machine it is advisable to use a delicate liquid detergent, preferably ecological; although the NewLife is famous for its resistance, the mixture with elastane and other fibers that increase its elasticity could make the garments more sensitive to the action of powder detergent.
Hand wash clothing made in NewLife it is an operation that requires a basin, warm water and liquid detergent; after rinsing, wring a little and apply normally.
