Fruitleather is a vegan skin created thanks to the recycling of mango fruit waste.
Over 40% of the fruit is discarded between agricultural fields and supermarkets. Fruitleather it recovers the fruit that is discarded when dented, damaged or otherwise not beautiful to look at, and therefore impossible to sell.
To combat this food waste and at the same time mitigate theenvironmental impact of the textile industry, the two founders of Fruitleather Rotterdam transform unsold fruit into vegan leather. Koen Meerkerk e Hugo de Boon they are the two young designers graduated from the Rotterdam Academy who gave life to the project Fruitleather.
At first, Fruitleather it was made up of different types of fruit, but after some tests the two founders realized that mango was the best fruit to make a higher quality vegan skin.
Fruitleather is made from 100% organic material, in fact, unlike other alternatives to leather of animal origin, the support that holds the mango coating is made of organic cotton certified cotton and this makes the material 100% compostable (or biodegradable), and at the same time it makes Fruitleather one of the most sustainable alternatives to leather on the market.

How to wash Fruitleather?
The environmental impact of laundry detergents and household cleaners is devastating to our planet, so we highly recommend using ecological detergents.
Fruitleather is a leatherette and as such it requires a lot of attention when washing. Imitation leathers are more delicate than leather of animal origin, so we recommend removing stains / encrustations with a smooth sponge soaked in a little water and a pinch of ecological detergent. If the stain persists, let it soak for 5/8 minutes.
