Muskin is a vegan leather created with subtropical mushrooms called Phellinus Ellipsoideus, and used by fashion brands to promote cruelty free fashion.
At sight and to the touch it is similar to suede, and has a soft and pleasant texture even in direct contact with the skin.
Muskin is a vegan leather it can also be used as a thermal insulator, as it absorbs moisture and releases it immediately, thus limiting bacterial proliferation. It is breathable, water-repellent and non-toxic thanks to a production model free of chemicals that are harmful to the environment or human health.
It is made of 100% organic material, but the company recommends binding it to a cotton or polyurethane support (at the discretion of the brand that buys it). If the support were in cotton, perhaps organic, we could consider products made with Muskin as compostable or biodegradable.
Muskin it is among the most sustainable alternatives to real leather, but it appears to be a rather delicate product that requires attention in its care and cleaning.

How to wash Muskin?
The environmental impact of laundry detergents and household cleaners is devastating to our planet, so we highly recommend using ecological detergents.
Muskin is a leatherette and as such it requires a lot of attention when washing. Imitation leathers are more delicate than leather of animal origin, so we recommend removing stains / encrustations with a smooth sponge soaked in a little water and a pinch of ecological detergent. If the stain persists, let it soak for 5/8 minutes.
